 The American Academy of Arts and Sciences today announced the election of David Kertzer as one its 196 new Fellows.

 In its annual selection of the best books of the year, Publishers Weekly today selected "Prisoner of the Vatican," with the comment:  "A riveting example of history writing at its best."

David Kertzer begins the "Prisoner of the Vatican" book tour 2004-05 in Washington, DC. The tour will appear in venues on both the East and West coasts of the U.S. and will end in Los Angeles, CA on January 13, 2005.

ABSTRACT: Back in 1960, John Kenneth Galbraith lamented that the nation's political conventions had become "an occasion when almost nothing happens."
