Mortara Play

The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Alfred Uhry's play, "Edgardo Mine," based on David Kertzer's book, was first produced at the Hartford Stage in the fall of 2002. Directed by Doug Hughes, it starred three-time Tony nominee Brian Murray as Pope Pius IX and two-time Tony award winner Randy Graff as Mariana Mortara.  A new version of the play was performed at the Guthrie Theater, in Minneapolis, from Nov. 4 to Dec. 17, 2006.
